I'm so thrilled to report that 'Captain Thunderbolt' has been shortlisted by the Australian Publishers' Association for the Australian Book Industry Awards, in the children's book/small publishers category! Here's a link to the shortlist http://abiawards.com.au/general/2015-abia-shortlists-announced/
It's been years in the making...but I can announce that finally my narrative non-fiction book about Captain Starlight is finished and been accepted for publication by Big Sky Publishing. It's an amazing tale - a real case of the truth being stranger than fiction. 'Starlight' was a well-educated man, practising as a doctor in rural New South Wales, when he suddenly stole some horses and went on a bushranging spree that ended in the death of a policeman. Sentenced to hang, he was reprieved at the last minute. Why? What were his influential connections? Then sentenced to life in prison and reprieved after 16 years, he travelled to QLD and took on a series of false identities, committed frauds and wound up in St Helena Island prison. There he met up with the man whose identity he would 'borrow' and use for the rest of his life. His death was almost as bizarre as his life. Who was he? My book brings to light some of Starlight's adventures that have never before been made public. More is yet to be revealed...
